During a recent appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark, Broadway veteran Michael Urie reminisced about his experiences at Juilliard, particularly his collaboration with Jessica Chastain, who would later win an Academy Award. The two actors participated in a production of Aphra Behn’s comedic play, Sir Patient Fancy, during their senior year.

Urie shared, “The play was a delightful and hilarious experience; at one point, I found myself hiding under a bed in my underwear, trying to avoid my character’s husband. It’s that kind of play.” He expressed great appreciation for his time at Juilliard, noting the incredible opportunities it provided.

Urie’s recent Broadway works include the musical Once Upon A Mattress, directed by Amy Sherman-Palladino and featuring Sutton Foster. Prior to that, he portrayed Sir Robin in the revival of Monty Python’s Spamalot, a role he reprised from the Kennedy Center production. Currently, he is featured in the acclaimed Apple TV+ dramedy series, Shrinking, which stands out as a work of creativity from Bill Lawrence, Jason Segel, and Brett Goldstein.

Chastain’s Broadway journey began with her debut in the 2012 revival of The Heiress, and she received a Tony Award nomination for her performance in the 2023 revival of A Doll’s House. In 2021, her portrayal of Tammy Faye Bakker in The Eyes of Tammy Faye garnered her significant accolades, including Best Actress awards from the Screen Actors Guild and Critics’ Choice Awards, as well as an Academy Award.
