Missing Hiker Found Alive in Kosciuszko National Park
A 23-year-old hiker, who had been reported missing since Boxing Day in the remote Kosciuszko National Park, has been located alive. The hiking group, Hazara Hikers, confirmed the successful outcome of the search for Hadi Nazari.
Authorities are anticipated to share further details shortly regarding the circumstances surrounding Nazari’s discovery. He was last seen by two friends as he descended the challenging Hannels Spur trail, which is known for its steep terrain. Unfortunately, he did not arrive at the Geehi campground, the designated meeting point for the group.

The search operation mobilized around 300 individuals, including police officers, State Emergency Service personnel, National Parks and Wildlife Service teams, ambulance staff, and numerous volunteers. Additionally, six specialized officers from rescue and bomb disposal units were airlifted into more inaccessible areas of the park to assist in the search.
Hannels Spur is renowned as one of the more challenging hikes in Australia, requiring trekkers to ascend approximately 1,800 meters above sea level. This demanding route has been popular among experienced bushwalkers for its breathtaking views and rewarding experience, despite its difficulties.
More to come.
