Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning to premiere at Cannes
It has been officially confirmed that Tom Cruise‘s highly anticipated eighth installment of the Mission: Impossible series will have its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival as part of the out-of-competition category. Scheduled for May 14, this will mark Cruise’s third appearance at the festival; he previously showcased Far and Away in 1992 and Top Gun: Maverick in 2022, where he was awarded an honorary Palme d’Or. The film, titled The Final Reckoning, is set to be released in theaters across the United States on May 23, and Paramount Pictures is optimistic about its success, having recently released an official trailer.
Peabody Awards to honor Andrea Mitchell and SNL
In this year’s Peabody Awards, NBC News veteran journalist Andrea Mitchell will be recognized with the Career Achievement Award, as confirmed by the organization on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the acclaimed sketch show Saturday Night Live, which is marking its 50th anniversary, will receive the Institutional Award. The nominees for the 2025 awards will be revealed on April 15, with the ceremony scheduled for June 1.
Werner Herzog to receive lifetime achievement award at Venice
Werner Herzog, the esteemed German filmmaker known for his influential works such as Aguirre, the Wrath of God, Fitzcarraldo, and Grizzly Man, is set to be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Honorary Golden Lion at the upcoming 82nd Venice International Film Festival this summer. Herzog expressed his gratitude, stating, “I have always tried to be a Good Soldier of Cinema, and this feels like a medal for my work. However, I have not gone into retirement. I work as always.”
