MISUMI Group Inc., a prominent supplier of mechanical components for the manufacturing sector, has announced its acquisition of Fictiv for $350 million. This all-cash deal is set to integrate Fictiv into MISUMI’s operations, enhancing its offerings in the manufacturing landscape.

The acquisition is expected to expedite the development of systems that incorporate artificial intelligence, leveraging digital tools alongside established physical frameworks. Based in Tokyo, MISUMI aims to enhance its product development efficiency and scalability through this strategic move.

“Both Fictiv and MISUMI share a common vision of streamlining world-class manufacturing and supply chain processes, making them more accessible and intelligent,” stated Dave Evans, co-founder and CEO of Fictiv. “Empowering more teams to transform their ideas into reality will foster the innovation necessary for future advancements.”

The manufacturing and supply chain sectors are currently experiencing a wave of change driven by fluctuating trade policies, global tariffs, geopolitical tensions, logistics disruptions, and technological advancements. MISUMI highlighted that these factors have revealed the limitations of conventional production methods, which are often costly, inefficient, and lacking transparency, thus increasing the risks associated with product development and scaling.

Fictiv Enhances AI-Driven Workflows

Headquartered in San Francisco, Fictiv combines AI-driven technology workflows with a global manufacturing network and local expertise. The company aims to streamline the sourcing process for custom mechanical components.

Fictiv boasts a robust track record, having produced over 35 million commercial and prototype components for leading companies in sectors such as aerospace, robotics, clean energy, consumer products, and automotive industries. The company’s growth has been propelled further by the recent introduction of its production manufacturing solutions, which address tariff-related challenges.

With four global manufacturing centers located in India, Mexico, China, and the U.S., Fictiv provides manufacturers with high-quality production options, enhanced supply chain logistics, and reduced supply chain risks.

MISUMI Aims for Scalable Component Production

MISUMI caters to over 318,000 clients worldwide, supplying a broad range of mechanical components, tools, consumables, and other products. The company is well-regarded for its stringent quality standards, exceptional global logistics, and innovative scalability facilitated by digital solutions and customization options.

“Since its inception, MISUMI has fostered a culture of creativity and innovation, positioning itself as a leader in simplifying the procurement of manufacturing components tailored to customer needs,” said Ryusei Ono, representative director and president of MISUMI Group. “The incorporation of Fictiv brings remarkable talent, established technology, and a mutual commitment to innovation. Together, we will enhance our customers’ time-to-value.”

MISUMI believes that Fictiv’s integration will further enrich its systems, delivering a unified global platform capable of creating comprehensive bills of materials (BOM) with unmatched speed, quality, and pricing.
