Benefit Compilation Album Released for Asheville Arts Community
Artists including MJ Lenderman, Animal Collective, Horse Jumper of Love, Reggie Watts, and Squirrel Flower have come together to support the Asheville arts community through a new benefit compilation titled We Love It Here.. This compilation aims to raise funds for Lamplight AVL, a nonprofit dedicated to assisting members of the local arts community who were affected by Hurricane Helene. The album can be purchased digitally now, with limited-edition vinyl preorders also available.
Drop of Sun, a recording studio in Asheville, orchestrated the compilation in response to the challenges faced by local artists following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. The album features a variety of artists contributing their talents, including a collaborative track by actress Sophie Thatcher, known for her roles in Yellowjackets and Heretic, along with Maral. Additional contributors include Hello Mary, Nightlands, Fust, Green-House, and Floating Action. Notably, vinyl editions include an additional track from Animal Collective, titled “Better Things to Come.”
In a press statement, Drop of Sun founder Adam McDaniel conveyed the importance of the album by stating, “The remarkable breadth of these previously unreleased tracks reflect Drop of Sun’s core principle of fostering an environment for artists to freely and boundlessly create. Being a resource to the Asheville arts community has yielded wonderful, long-lasting relationships, amazing songs like these, and a platform to communicate and cope during hard times. We are thrilled to share these exclusive songs with you.”
