Parents Demand Answers After Son’s Disturbing Incident at Maryland School
The parents of a 7-year-old student in Maryland are left with numerous unanswered questions following a troubling incident that reportedly occurred on November 15 at C. Paul Barnhart Elementary School in Waldorf. According to the boy’s mother, her son was found “hung” in the school bathroom, leading to urgent medical attention.
The mother, whose name has not been disclosed, described the alarming situation in a social media post, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the incident, which has drawn significant attention from local media outlets including WUSA News 9, WTOP News, and Fox 5 Washington, D.C..
According to reports, the family mentioned that their son suffered visible injuries, including “marks under his eyes” and bruising on his neck, which they attribute to choking during the incident.
In her statement, the mother expressed the emotional distress her son is currently experiencing, stating, “He’s traumatized. It’s going to take time. This is not something he’s going to just get over overnight.”
The school administration released a formal statement that day describing the event as an accident related to “horseplaying” between students. They explained, “Two of our students were reportedly horseplaying in a school bathroom when one student’s jacket got caught on a stall door hook.” According to the statement, the child was unable to extricate himself, while the other student was unable to provide assistance.
Following the incident, one of the involved students left the bathroom to seek help from staff, prompting a swift response from school administrators. As a precaution, they also called 911 for additional medical support after assessing the situation.
The school expressed gratitude in their statement for the students who alerted staff, as well as for the administrative team and medical personnel who provided care to the child.
C. Paul Barnhart Elementary School has also announced that an investigation is underway, with contributions from the school resource officer and local police to ensure a thorough understanding of the events.
In a poignant post shared on November 17, the boy’s mother included a harrowing image of her son in a hospital bed while detailing her distress. She recounted receiving a devastating phone call from the school, informing her that her son was en route to a children’s hospital.
She reported, “The principal went into the bathroom and found my baby foaming at the mouth and unconscious.” Emotional as she detailed the moments in the trauma room, she mentioned, “I walked into the trauma room with 8-10 doctors surrounding my son. This is the most heartbreaking and traumatizing situation my family has ever been in.”
Determined to raise awareness, the mother urged other parents and students to address the severity of the situation, declaring, “Everything about this is unacceptable. Nothing about this is okay. BULLYING is never okay.”
Concluding her remarks, she expressed her gratitude for her son’s continued presence, stating, “I have so many questions left unanswered. I thank everyone for all the calls, check-ups, and prayers.” She emphasized her relief that her son survived the incident and acknowledged the emotional turmoil her family faces in its aftermath.
