Morgan Wallen has made a notable exit from the Saturday Night Live stage.
On March 29, the popular country artist graced the iconic sketch show as the musical guest, sharing the spotlight with host Mikey Madison, who recently earned accolades for her performance in Anora at the 2025 Oscars.
Wallen showcased two songs from his upcoming album, I’m the Problem, and participated in the customary closeout segment with the SNL cast. His participation included a whisper to Madison, a hug, and a sudden departure from Studio 8H, captured in a moment that left viewers surprised.
Shortly after leaving the stage, Wallen took to his Instagram Stories to share a snapshot from his private jet, captioning it with “Get me to God’s country,” suggesting a desire for some personal reflection or a retreat.
While Billboard has reached out for comments from Wallen’s representatives, the intrigue surrounding his abrupt exit has become a topic of conversation among fans and observers alike.
During his performance, Wallen delivered the title track from I’m the Problem alongside the poignant “Just in Case,” offering a glimpse into his emotional songwriting. This new album, highly anticipated by fans, is scheduled for release on May 16.
This appearance marks Wallen’s return to SNL, having previously performed in December 2020 where he sang “7 Summers” and “Still Goin Down” from his album Dangerous: The Double Album, a project that dominated the Billboard 200 chart for ten consecutive weeks.
Originally, Wallen was set to appear in January but had to withdraw due to violations of SNL‘s COVID-19 safety protocols. His initial turn on the show included a sketch that humorously addressed the backlash he faced after being seen without a mask at a party in Alabama.
The episode featuring Wallen followed Lady Gaga’s dual role as host and musical guest on March 8. This season, SNL has also welcomed performances from artists such as Tate McRae, GloRilla, Hozier, and Billie Eilish, among others.
Looking ahead, additional notable performances are slated for the coming weeks, including appearances by Lizzo, Elton John, and Brandi Carlile on episodes hosted by Jon Hamm and Jack Black.
