Morris Chestnut Leads New Medical Detective Series “Watson”

Actor Morris Chestnut takes on the role of Dr. John Watson in CBS’ latest offering, “Watson,” a series that intertwines medical drama with the art of detective work. Following the passing of his partner, Chestnut’s character picks up the legacy of Sherlock Holmes, navigating the complexities of both hospital cases and criminal investigations.

In an interview with “CBS Mornings,” Chestnut highlighted the unique angle of the show. “We’re not just a typical medical drama,” he noted. “We solve the cases inside the hospital and outside of the hospital. We’re doctors, but we’re also detectives.” This multifaceted approach promises a fresh take on the genres, differentiating the series from conventional medical or crime shows.

According to Chestnut, the blend of medical and detective storylines is a defining feature of “Watson.” He described it as a serialized procedural drama where each episode presents a new medical case while developing overarching investigative narratives. “Every episode will have a medical case that we solve, as well as a strong serialized procedural element,” he added. As the series progresses, viewers can expect the intensity to ramp up, with both the medical dilemmas and the mysteries deepening.

Earlier this month, Chestnut experienced another milestone when he attended the Golden Globe Awards for the first time. He shared his excitement via Instagram, remarking on the significance of the event in his career. “For me, I just keep going. I have so many things I still want to do in my career,” he reflected. The actor expressed surprise at the attention his first-time attendance garnered, saying, “When I posted that, people said, ‘Oh wow, it’s your first time.’ I said, ‘Oh wow, it is my first time.'” This moment underscores his journey in the entertainment industry and his ongoing aspirations.

In addition to his professional achievements, Chestnut shared insights from his personal life, touching on his marriage of over 30 years to Pam. He emphasized the importance of mutual respect in their relationship. “We just have an ultimate respect for each other,” he stated. “We never say anything that we can’t take back. We’ve been very blessed to grow together.” This candid revelation provides a glimpse into the values that have sustained his long-term partnership.

Fans can tune in to see Chestnut portray Dr. John Watson in “Watson,” which is set to premiere on Sunday following the AFC Championship game on CBS.
