Motorola Edge 60 Fusion and Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 Unveiled: Week 14 Recap

This week, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, a new chip built on a 4nm process. Unlike the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite which features the advanced Oryon core, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 utilizes an older Kryo CPU architecture, maintaining one Cortex-X4 core that reaches speeds of 3.2GHz. It is paired with an Adreno 825 GPU and includes a Hexagon NPU, which promises a significant 44% performance enhancement compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is set to make its debut in the iQOO Z10 Turbo later this month, with forthcoming releases from manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Oppo, and Meizu.

In another announcement, Motorola unveiled the Edge 60 Fusion, a smartphone featuring a 6.67-inch 120Hz P-OLED display capable of reaching a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. Depending on the market, it will utilize either the Dimensity 7300 or 7400 chipset and has an impressive IP68/IP69 and MIL-STD-810H rating, ensuring resilience against harsh environmental conditions.

The Edge 60 Fusion sports a robust camera setup, including a 50MP Sony Lytia 700C main camera accompanied by a 13MP ultrawide lens. For selfies, it features a 32MP front-facing camera. Depending on the region, the device will house either a 5,200mAh or 5,500mAh battery, supporting 68W fast charging. Currently, the device is listed on Motorola’s regional websites, such as in Germany and Spain, where the 12/256GB variant is available at €330. In India, the launch is anticipated soon, with pricing starting at ₹21,000.

As the powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip is poised to drive the flagship devices of 2025, excitement builds for its potential performance capabilities.

The Motorola Edge 60 Fusion marks a milestone as it features the first Pantone Validated quad-curved display, making it a notable entry for Motorola. Additionally, it is also the company’s inaugural phone to launch with Moto AI pre-installed.

Each of the three cameras in the X200 Ultra also includes optical image stabilization (OIS), enhancing its photography capabilities.

The teaser campaign for upcoming devices continues to generate buzz in the tech community.

Adding to the excitement, images and video samples have emerged from vivo’s future flagship, the X200 Ultra. This phone is set to feature a 35mm main camera, an 85mm zoom lens, and a new 14mm large-sensor ultrawide camera, with an expected release later this month.

The company’s Product Manager, Han Boxiao, shared stunning visuals captured with the new ultrawide camera, which utilizes the 50MP Sony LYT-818 sensor. This larger sensor offers impressive performance, arguably outclassing the ultrawide camera in the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The final design of the X200 Ultra diverges significantly from earlier leaks.

This launch marks a shift in focus away from direct comparisons with other cameras, as representatives suggested it would be unfair to make such evaluations at this stage.

Though the Motorola Edge was not part of the initial Galaxy S25 announcements, it is expected to launch shortly. It has surfaced in live images, suggesting it is in the final stages of certification.

A review of the newly released Motorola Edge 60 Fusion is now available, alongside a comparison of the Poco F7 Pro and F7 Ultra. Check out the reviews for detailed insights.

The latest iteration of the Motorola handset showcases a sleek and attractive design, particularly in its vegan leather finish in Slipstream blue.

The Ultra variant introduces an even more powerful chipset and enhanced camera features. Consumers are left to ponder whether the additional investment over the Pro model is truly justified.
