AI agent marketplaces are rapidly gaining traction as businesses seek easily customizable agents to meet various operational needs.
Prominent companies such as ServiceNow, Google, Writer, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft have all introduced platforms that allow users to select from a range of pre-built agents tailored for enterprise solutions.
Capitalizing on this trend, Moveworks has launched its own AI Agent Marketplace. This platform includes over 100 pre-constructed agents that organizations can integrate into their systems.
In a conversation with VentureBeat, Moveworks’ founder and CEO, Bhavin Shah, explained that the primary function of these agent marketplaces is to enable enterprises to quickly adopt various agent-based solutions. He emphasized that these platforms can also inspire new use cases for businesses. “The transformation in productivity begins with identifying the types of agents that can effectively achieve business objectives,” Shah remarked. He also noted that the marketplace showcases real agents connecting to third-party systems, aiding in the practical implementation of innovative ideas.
The marketplace features agents specialized in diverse areas such as HR, sales, finance, and IT operations, including functionalities for managing timesheets, recruiting talent, and handling expenses.
Customize Agents to Fit Workflows
According to Shah, businesses can readily configure agents from the marketplace to suit their specific requirements. The platform provides templates that easily connect with third-party applications, enabling integration within existing tech ecosystems.
Shah pointed out that unlike traditional robotic process automation (RPA), which required cumbersome step-by-step workflows, AI agents facilitate a more dynamic and data-informed approach. This enhanced integration allows for greater understanding and context when deploying workflows.
Moveworks claims its marketplace stands out from others by providing robust integrations into enterprise workloads, rather than simply offering basic prompt packs. Users can enhance their AI agents’ functionalities through plugins, or deploy them within a low-code environment.
The Rise of Agent Marketplaces
The emergence of Moveworks’ marketplace aligns with a broader shift towards agent libraries being the next step in AI development, akin to model gardens. Major cloud providers like Amazon, Google, Hugging Face, and Microsoft have established model gardens that allow customers to construct various applications or agents using multiple large language models (LLMs).
In contrast, agent libraries serve as collections of pre-existing agents available for users to explore. Last year, ServiceNow debuted its own agent library, followed by Microsoft’s extensive AI agent marketplace. Salesforce also contributes with its AgentExchange, collaborating with over 200 partners, while AWS maintains a library on its Bedrock platform.
Ashley Sprague, senior director of IT and corporate engineering at GitHub, noted that agent libraries significantly reduce the time it takes for companies to implement AI solutions across their workforce. “Given our backlog of ideas, the marketplace allows us to search for pre-built solutions efficiently,” she explained.
While GitHub has not yet incorporated the AI Agent Marketplace, Sprague believes the existing collaboration with Moveworks enables more teams to engage with AI agents within a low-code environment, thereby alleviating the burden on IT teams tasked with creating agents from scratch.
Harmonizing Platforms
Moveworks’ agent platform may soon benefit from integration with other agent libraries. In March, ServiceNow revealed its acquisition of Moveworks for an undisclosed amount.
Shah indicated that while the acquisition process is ongoing, Moveworks’ AI Agent Marketplace continues to operate independently. He believes that as both companies share a client base, the marketplace and ServiceNow’s agent library cater to complementary user needs. “The overlap indicates our successful coexistence,” Shah stated, adding that while ServiceNow has a comprehensive agent platform serving various operational functions, Moveworks addresses a wider spectrum of employee-focused solutions.
