A beloved teen romantic comedy from the late 90s, 10 Things I Hate About You, is set to transform into a Broadway musical adaptation. This exciting project is officially in development, featuring prominent figures such as pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen and Girls creator Lena Dunham.
The original film, inspired by William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, was pivotal in launching the careers of stars like Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It explored the complex romantic entanglements of high school students at Padua High School, focusing on the contrasting dynamics between sisters Kat (Stiles) and Bianca (Larisa Oleynik), new arrival Cameron (Gordon-Levitt), popular senior Joey (Andrew Keegan), and the rebellious Patrick (Ledger). The lasting impact of 10 Things I Hate About You is evident, as it was also adapted into a 2010 series on ABC Family.
Here’s what you need to know about the musical adaptation of 10 Things I Hate About You.
