Mythic Quest is officially ending: Apple TV+ has announced the cancellation of the comedy series after its fourth season.

In a gesture toward providing some closure for its audience, the Season 4 finale will feature a revised conclusion, as reported by Variety.

Executive producers Megan Ganz, David Hornsby, and Rob McElhenney expressed their feelings about the cancellation, stating, “Endings are hard. But after four incredible seasons, Mythic Quest is coming to a close. We’re so proud of the show and the world we got to build — and deeply grateful to every cast and crew member who poured their heart into it. To all our fans, thank you for playing with us. To our partners at Apple, thank you for believing in the vision from the very beginning.”

The modified ending will be available for streaming next week, following the original finale on March 26, as noted by Variety.

The producers added, “Because endings are hard, with Apple’s blessing we made one final update to our last episode — so we could say goodbye, instead of just game over.”

Mythic Quest focused on the team at a video game studio tasked with creating the online role-playing game of the same name. The cast included McElhenney and Hornsby, along with Charlotte Nicdao, Danny Pudi, Ashly Burch, Imani Hakim, Jessie Ennis, and Naomi Ekperigin.

The announcement of Mythic Quest’s cancellation has evoked strong reactions from its fanbase.

On social media, user @mackenzieGNF expressed disbelief, saying, “APPLE WHY WOULD YOU CANCEL MYTHIC QUEST AFTER THAT SEASON FINALE!!!!!!!????” wrote.

Another user, @prongsy, lamented, “Heartbroken after ages that a TV network (or whatever you f***ers are called these days) canceled a show I really, really, really dig. Goodbye, Mythic Quest. You were simply incredible. Dumbass Apple,” commented.

@Parzival_200 articulated a more analytical perspective, stating, “To say this decision is shortsighted would be an understatement. Mythic Quest was a phenomenal show that balanced its comedic nature with its more dramatically paced moments while tackling the games industry. I am sad, but I am thankful for the seasons we’ve gotten.” wrote.

Meanwhile, @TheEricGoldman expressed mixed feelings, noting, “I am sad Mythic Quest is canceled while confused/curious about this updated finale, which ain’t a real wrap-up special or such but sounds like more than a lot of canceled shows get. Anyway, I’m gonna miss the show and its characters.” wrote.

Contrastingly, not all viewers were upset by the show’s conclusion. Commenting on social media, @m_traczyk said, “Good,” and criticized the series, asserting that it relied on cheap stereotypes about gamers and portrayed toxic behaviors prevalent in the industry, adding that it was a disappointment. posted.

Throughout its run, Mythic Quest contributed to the television landscape with two pandemic-themed special episodes — “Quarantine” in 2020 and “Everlight” in 2021 — as well as the anthology spinoff series, Side Quest.
