NYC Mother Charged in Boyfriend’s Murder Alongside Son and Ex-Partner

A New York City mother has been implicated in a shocking case that involves the murder of her boyfriend, as reported by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.

Daniel Spencer, aged 47, and his son Khaeir Spencer, aged 20, are accused of fatally shooting 43-year-old David Brown in the Harlem apartment he shared with Tetikwa Horace, 42. Authorities state that Horace, a mother to Khaeir, was in a relationship with Brown at the time, despite Spencer being her ex-boyfriend.

On April 7, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr. announced that Horace faces multiple charges, including two counts of hindering prosecution in the first degree and one count of tampering with physical evidence.

Bragg expressed grave concern regarding the incident, stating, “As alleged, this father-son duo murdered David Brown in his own home. Disturbingly, Mr. Brown’s girlfriend – the mother of one of the accused – allegedly helped by tampering with evidence and hindering the prosecution of this case. We will seek full accountability for this terrible act of gun violence.”

Citing legal documents and court records, the district attorney indicated that Horace entered her apartment on December 14 with her son Khaeir and his father Daniel.

Allegedly, Horace allowed both men into the apartment while they were masked, deliberately removing the surveillance camera from her front door as she exited.

Approximately two minutes later, witnesses reported seeing Khaeir and Daniel fleeing the residence, reportedly leaving Brown with multiple gunshot injuries to his torso and leg.

Responding to the scene, officers from the New York Police Department promptly transported the victim to Harlem Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, according to a press release.

While Daniel was arrested on January 16, reports indicate that Horace assisted Khaeir in evading law enforcement, leading to his capture in Sullivan County on March 4. Horace herself was apprehended on March 17.

Both Khaeir and Daniel face serious charges, including second-degree murder, attempted first-degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and assault in the second degree. Horace’s charges remain centered around hindering prosecution and evidence tampering.

Neighbors in the vicinity expressed disbelief regarding the violent incident. One resident remarked, “We never had something like that happen on our floor, so finding that out, it actually scared us and shocked us because we didn’t know who it was,” as reported by the New York Daily News.

Residents recounted the unsettling scene of investigators canvassing the area, cordoning off sections of the hallways as they gathered evidence.

Currently, Khaeir and Daniel are being held without bail at Rikers Island, while Horace has reportedly been released from custody.
