PM Modi’s ‘Fit India’ Campaign Aims to Tackle Obesity Through Fitness and Nutrition

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Fit India’ initiative has garnered significant support from various sectors, including government officials, athletes, and celebrities. During the inauguration of the 38th National Games in Dehradun on January 28, he addressed the alarming rise of obesity in India, highlighting it as a pressing health concern.

In his remarks, PM Modi emphasized the critical role of exercise and balanced nutrition, advocating for a reduction in unhealthy fats and oils in diets. He proposed a practical measure of cutting daily oil consumption by ten percent to promote better health.

When inquired about the Prime Minister’s fitness-focused tweet, singer Nikhita Gandhi expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “That’s a great initiative. Our eating habits need to align with our lifestyle, particularly because many of us lead sedentary lives. In Indian culture, there is a tendency to overconsume carbohydrates such as rice and bread while incorporating fewer vegetables. This is a habitual practice we should begin to reconsider for better nutrition.”

Actor Naga Chaitanya also weighed in on the ‘Fit India’ initiative, stressing the importance of overall well-being. He remarked, “We all need to be conscious about fitness, as it encompasses not only physical health but also mental wellness. The foods we consume significantly influence our overall health. There’s a saying that the gut is the second brain; maintaining a healthy gut contributes to a healthy mind.”

Additionally, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar praised PM Modi for his efforts to inspire the nation towards healthier living. Kumar shared excerpts from the Prime Minister’s remarks delivered at the National Games, expressing appreciation for how Modi conveyed the repercussions of poor lifestyle choices.

In his post on X, Kumar stated, “Health is the biggest wealth,” encouraging everyone to heed PM Modi’s guidance on engaging in regular physical activity and making nutritious food choices for a healthier life.
