Nargis Fakhri’s Sister Arrested: Mother Advocates for Aliya Amid Serious Charges
Nargis Fakhri’s sister, Aliya Fakhri, has been taken into custody amid serious allegations related to the deaths of her former partner, Edward Jacobs, and his friend, Anastasia Star Ettienne, in a recent fire incident in Queens, New York. Authorities allege that Aliya intentionally set ablaze a two-storey garage, resulting in the tragic fatalities attributed to smoke inhalation and severe burn injuries. As a consequence of the charges against her, she has been denied bail and faces murder accusations.
The District Attorney, Melinda Katz, characterized the event as a deliberate and malevolent act, stating, “This defendant maliciously ended the lives of two people by setting a fire that trapped a man and woman in a raging inferno.” She further emphasized the agonizing deaths resulting from the smoke and fire-related injuries, as covered by reports from the Daily News.
While there has been no public statement from Nargis Fakhri regarding the incident, her mother has publicly defended Aliya. Expressing disbelief over the allegations, she remarked, “I don’t think she would be killing someone. She was a person who was caring for everybody. Insights from Edward Jacobs’ mother reveal that Jacobs and Aliya had broken off their relationship approximately one year before the tragic event. Despite the separation, reports suggest that Aliya maintained an interest in rekindling their relationship. Importantly, it has been clarified that Jacobs and Ettienne shared a platonic friendship, not a romantic connection.
A crucial eyewitness account has emerged from the scene, highlighting the desperation of the situation. This witness described attempting to rescue Anastasia but was forced to flee over a barrier. The witness detailed that Anastasia re-entered the building in a bid to save Edward Jacobs, noting, “It was an abusive relationship.” This information raises questions about the dynamics leading up to the fatal incident.
“…We had to jump over it to escape. Star jumped over with me, but then she went back in to save [Jacobs]. It was an abusive relationship. She had told everyone before that she was going to burn his house down, that she was going to kill him. We just laughed it off,” recounted the witness, as reported in multiple outlets.
Nargis Fakhri, known for her breakout role in the film Rockstar (2011) alongside Ranbir Kapoor, has continued her career in the film industry and is currently engaged in the final stages of filming for Housefull 5, sharing the screen with notable actors such as Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh among others.
