Dynamic Aviation Group Secures NASA Contract for Airborne Science Program

NASA has chosen Dynamic Aviation Group Inc., based in Bridgewater, Virginia, to receive the Commercial Aviation Services contract, which is a fundamental component of the agency’s Airborne Science Program. This initiative aims to utilize aircraft and associated technologies to enhance scientific research and effectively utilize Earth observing satellite data, ensuring that NASA’s insights about our planet are accessible to a wider audience.

The awarded contract is structured as an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity firm-fixed-price agreement and has a ceiling value of $13.5 million. The performance period commenced on January 31 and will extend until January 30, 2030.

Dynamic Aviation is set to supply ground and flight crews along with services utilizing modified commercial aircraft, notably including the Beechcraft King Air B200 and Beechcraft King Air A90 models. Their responsibilities will encompass a range of activities such as mechanical and electrical engineering for the integration and removal of instruments, flight planning, real-time tracking, execution of projects, as well as conducting feasibility assessments and cost estimations. Modifications to the aircraft may involve the addition of instrumented nose cones, viewing ports, air inlets, computing systems, and satellite communication resources.

This collaboration plays a crucial role in NASA’s capability to execute airborne science missions, refine and validate Earth system models, and provide calibration for satellite payloads. The contract will be administered by NASA’s Ames Research Center, located in California’s Silicon Valley, on behalf of the Airborne Science Program within the Earth Science Division at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
