Jessica Capshaw Joins the Cast of “9-1-1: Nashville”
In a notable addition to the cast of “9-1-1: Nashville,” actress Jessica Capshaw, widely recognized for her role as Dr. Arizona Robbins on “Grey’s Anatomy,” is set to make her mark as a series regular. This new spinoff, which comes from the creative minds of Tim Minear and Ryan Murphy, will feature Capshaw alongside Chris O’Donnell, who portrays Captain Don Sharpe.
Capshaw’s character will be introduced as the mother of the series’ lead, a role yet to be filled, and the wife of O’Donnell’s character, adding depth to the narrative that revolves around family dynamics within a high-stakes firefighting environment.
Although ABC and 20th Television have chosen not to provide specific comments regarding Capshaw’s involvement, the character details reveal intriguing aspects of Captain Don. He is characterized as a “rugged fire captain and rodeo rider” leading the busiest firehouse in Nashville alongside his beloved son. The description hints at a multifaceted personality, presenting Don as a “devoted husband and family man” who carries his own secrets, leaving viewers eager to discover more.
While many plot elements remain under wraps, Minear has previously indicated that the show is progressing well, with both casting and location scouting actively taking place in Nashville, where production will be based.
Capshaw’s tenure on “Grey’s Anatomy,” which spanned from Seasons 5 to 14, left a lasting impact, and since then, she has made appearances in Hulu’s “Tell Me Lies” and the Netflix film “Holidate.” Her representation includes CAA and Gang, Tyre, Ramer, Brown and Passman.
The creative team behind “9-1-1: Nashville” includes Murphy, Minear, and Rashad Raisani as executive producers and writers, with contributions from Chris O’Donnell, Brad Falchuk, and Angela Bassett also in executive roles. The series is scheduled to make its debut in the 2025-26 television season, promising to bring fresh stories and compelling characters to audiences.
