Planning for Valentine’s Day weekend can start early, particularly for enthusiasts of the hit satirical series The White Lotus, which is set to make its return on February 16, taking the audience to the luxurious landscapes of Thailand.

The beloved show is known for introducing fresh faces each season, yet the upcoming third season will revive a familiar character: Belinda, played by Natasha Rothwell. Originally a spa manager who connected with Tanya McQuoid, portrayed by Jennifer Coolidge, in Season 1, Belinda navigated betrayal that left a lasting impact on her character’s arc.

While the producers are typically tight-lipped to keep spoilers under wraps, Rothwell recently shared some insights into what fans can anticipate in the new season.

A New Perspective

In her first appearance, Belinda was the welcoming face for Tanya and her friends upon their arrival at the hotel. However, this season marks a role reversal, as Belinda will now be a guest at the establishment.

When the news of Rothwell’s return broke, many fans speculated whether her character had come into an inheritance following Tanya’s demise or perhaps had ventured into opening her own spa. Nevertheless, Rothwell clarified that such theories do not apply to her character’s development this season.

“This time she’s going to be a guest at the hotel,” Rothwell revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “Although she’s on a work trip and taking classes, she’s fully absorbing what it means to be on the other side of the hotel experience. It’s an exciting twist that allows us to explore the dynamics of the luxurious life in the series.”

Belinda’s Personal Growth

Reflecting on her journey from Season 1, Rothwell described Belinda as “devastated” after Tanya reneged on the promise to support her aspiration of opening a business. In contrast, this upcoming season will focus on Belinda’s efforts to emerge from that sadness and reignite her inspiration.

The audience will also be introduced to Belinda’s son, who is nearing the end of his education. Rothwell elaborated, saying, “It’s a fascinating stage in life where you realize your parents have their own complexities, and a new friendship begins to blossom as both parties navigate this transition.”

Rothwell had not anticipated her return to The White Lotus for the new season, but upon receiving the offer from creator Mike White, she eagerly accepted. “I didn’t even think about it happening again. I loved being part of Season 1 and was just a viewer for Season 2, so when Mike called, I immediately expressed my excitement to come back. My response was simple: ‘I will follow you anywhere,’” she expressed, highlighting her genuine enthusiasm for the role.
