Nayanthara Requests Fans to Abandon the ‘Lady Superstar’ Moniker, Emphasizing Personal Connection to Her Name
Nayanthara, renowned actress and wife of filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, has decided to step away from the affectionate title of ‘Lady Superstar,’ a label she has been praised with by her devoted fans for years. Despite her appreciation for the sentiment, she has expressed a desire for her supporters to simply use her name instead.
In a poignant message, Nayanthara articulated her belief that while recognition and accolades are significant, they can unintentionally create a barrier between an artist and their artistry. For her, the name Nayanthara carries more profound meaning as it encapsulates her identity beyond her profession as an actress.
“I deeply value the affection behind the title ‘Lady Superstar’ that many of you have kindly given me. However, I kindly ask you to refer to me as ‘Nayanthara.’ This name is incredibly significant to me; it defines who I am not only as an actress but as a person. While accolades are cherished, they can sometimes cultivate an image that distances us from our work and from the genuine connection we share with you, my audience,” she conveyed.
She further highlighted that her bond with fans transcends any labels, stating, “We share a universal language of love that connects us beyond all constraints. Though the future is always uncertain, I find comfort in your continuous support, and I am committed to working hard to entertain you. Cinema is our shared passion, and let us continue to celebrate it together.”
On the professional side, Nayanthara is preparing for the launch of her latest film, Test, which is set to premiere on Netflix, although the specific release date has not yet been revealed. She also has a slate of other projects lined up, including Mannangatti Since 1960, Dear Students, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, Rakkayir, MMMN alongside Mammootty and Mohan, along with an untitled venture with director Vishnu Edavan.
