Neo-Nazi Group Quietly Reestablishing in the U.S., Advocating for ‘Only Military Solutions’ Among Followers

An alarming neo-Nazi organization known as The Base is reportedly re-emerging in the United States, signaling a potentially dangerous period for extremist ideologies as they propagate the notion that military action is the only viable solution to political issues.

Originating in 2018 and classified as a terrorist group in various nations, The Base appears to be leveraging a newly perceived opportunity coinciding with the recent political climate influenced by the Trump administration.

Despite being the target of a prolonged investigation by the FBI, The Base has maintained a low profile since 2022. However, reports indicate that its founder, Rinaldo Nazzaro—who is currently thought to be in Russia—is actively seeking to recruit and reorganize members in anticipation of the 2024 presidential elections.

Allegedly, Nazzaro reached out to veterans with an offer of $1,200 monthly to train potential recruits at undisclosed locations in the Pacific Northwest.

An audio message surfaced recently that outlined the group’s preferences for clandestine tactics rather than public demonstrations. The speaker posed a critical question: “Are we just going to be reactionary? Or are we going to be part of the solution? The military solution.”

The message ominously alluded to a “black scenario,” suggesting a breakdown of governmental authority, necessitating that members prepare to care for their families and communities, particularly focused on “white women.”

The speaker asserted that “there is no political solution, only a military solution,” urging followers to act accordingly.

In the wake of Trump’s electoral success in November, many analysts predicted a shift in the FBI’s focus away from violent right-wing factions, which some believe is contributing to The Base’s current mobilization efforts.

Colin Clarke, a terrorism expert, stated that strategic far-right groups, including The Base, have been waiting for an opportune moment to reinstate their agendas. He suggested that the new FBI leadership, under Trump’s administration with Kash Patel, may redirect counter-terrorism efforts towards left-wing groups, providing a perceived green light for far-right movements.

Experts like Steven Rai from the Institute for Strategic Dialogue affirm that violent extremists are acutely aware of shifts within the U.S. national security establishment, which may embolden them.

In a response to inquiries, FBI representatives emphasized their commitment to targeting individuals engaged in violent or criminal acts that threaten national security, clarifying that investigations cannot commence solely based on protected forms of speech.

Nazzaro, known by the alias Norman Spear, has aimed to cultivate militant cells globally and has maintained ties with other extremist factions, such as the Feuerkrieg Division and Atomwaffen Division.

Recent activity on the group’s social media channels suggests a resurgence, with claims from some individuals asserting their presence within the United States.

Throughout the years, law enforcement has arrested several individuals linked to The Base and similar groups on serious charges, including conspiracy to commit murder.

The Base is part of a broader trend among “accelerationist” white supremacist organizations drawing inspiration from the writings of James Mason, an influential figure in the American neo-Nazi movement.
