“It is likely Netflix has a few more quarters of strong subscriber growth driven by its content slate and ad-tier, but we do expect the benefits of the password-sharing crackdown to slow.”

This stock decline is just one of several challenges Netflix is facing. Despite the success of their film Emilia Pérez, which garnered 13 Oscar nominations at the 97th Academy Awards, the project’s potential for winning Best Picture was overshadowed by controversy surrounding lead actress Karla Sofía Gascón’s past tweets. Additionally, comedian Conan O’Brien highlighted Netflix’s frequent price hikes in his opening monologue, noting that a standard subscription now costs $17.99. Meanwhile, the streaming giant’s latest blockbuster, The Electric State, has received poor reviews from critics, adding to the negative sentiment.

Having dominated the streaming market for years, Netflix now finds itself under scrutiny like never before. Although the initial crackdown on shared accounts resulted in a surge of new subscriptions, the sustainability of this growth is in question.
