Disney announces 2029 debut for Pixar’s Coco 2
In exciting news from Disney and Pixar, a sequel titled Coco 2 is officially in production, following up on the success of the 2017 Academy Award-winning film Coco. The announcement was made by CEO Bob Iger during the annual meeting of shareholders, who emphasized that while the project is still in its infancy, it promises to be filled with humor, heart, and adventure.
Coco 2 aims to bring back the original team, which includes Oscar-winning director Lee Unkrich (known for Coco and Toy Story 3) and co-director Adrian Molina (also from Coco). Oscar-winning producer Mark Nielsen will be at the helm for this 2029 release.
The first Coco film followed Miguel, a young boy passionate about music despite his family’s longstanding ban on it. His adventure into the vibrant Land of the Dead unveiled deep family secrets and resonated with audiences, winning two Academy Awards, including best animated feature and best original song (“Remember Me”).

As Netflix prepares to conclude its popular adult animated series Big Mouth, it has announced that the much-anticipated eighth season will debut on May 23.
