Josh Kraft to Enter Boston Mayoral Race
Josh Kraft, known for his philanthropic work and as the son of New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, is set to announce his candidacy for the mayoral position in Boston, according to a source familiar with his plans, as reported by Boston 25 News.
A conversation with Kraft indicated that he intends to make a formal declaration regarding his campaign in early February. This news was first brought to light by the Boston Globe earlier this week.
Kraft will be challenging the incumbent, Mayor Michelle Wu, during the upcoming election scheduled for November 2025.
Acting as the president of the New England Patriots Foundation, Kraft oversees various charitable initiatives linked to the Kraft family. These include the Patriots Foundation, the Revolution Charitable Foundation, and the Kraft Center for Community Health, as well as the family’s involvement with the REFORM Alliance, as detailed by The Kraft Group.
Before dedicating himself full-time to philanthropic efforts, Kraft spent three decades with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, notably serving as the Nicholas President and CEO for twelve years.
In addition to his philanthropic work, Kraft is actively involved with various organizations. He holds positions on the boards of Brandeis University, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Herren Project, and he co-chairs the Hate Crimes Task Force in Massachusetts.
Michelle Wu, the first woman and first person of color elected to serve as Mayor of Boston, recently welcomed the birth of her third child, which was reported last week.
