Nintendo Invites Players for a New Switch Online Feature Test
Nintendo is seeking participants for a playtest of a new feature related to Nintendo Switch Online. However, the specific details regarding this feature have not been disclosed.
This initiative follows Nintendo’s recent release of a gesture-controlled alarm clock, which has left room for speculation about the nature of the upcoming feature. Opinions from the Verge team have varied widely, ranging from the inclusion of classic GameCube titles in Switch Online to potential previews of a retro Wii mini console or even a revival of a forgotten Star Fox game. The community is encouraged to share their predictions in the comments section.
Application submissions will be open from Thursday, October 10th at 11 AM ET to Tuesday, October 15th at 10:59 AM ET. Interested individuals can apply through the “To Application Page” link here. For applicants residing outside Japan, selections will be made on a first-come, first-served basis, while those in Japan may be chosen through a raffle if the number of applicants exceeds the available spots.
To be considered for participation, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Possess a Nintendo Account
- Be an active subscriber of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be a resident of one of the following countries: Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, or Spain
Nintendo anticipates that as many as 10,000 participants will be accepted for this playtest. They also noted that the application process may close early if the cap on participants is reached. Participants will need to download specific “exclusive software” onto their Nintendo Switch to engage in the testing process.
The playtest is scheduled to take place from October 23rd at 9 PM ET until November 5th at 7:59 PM ET.
