In a recent announcement, Nintendo disclosed the pricing for games on the upcoming Switch 2, raising concerns among Grand Theft Auto VI fans about the potential cost of Rockstar’s highly anticipated game.

For years, the gaming community has speculated on the price tag that Rockstar Games might attach to GTA 6, with some analysts suggesting it could exceed $100.

There are even predictions that special editions of GTA 6 could reach upwards of $250, sparking further discussions among fans.

With Nintendo revealing the costs of games for the Switch 2, anxiety grows around how this trend might affect the pricing strategy for GTA VI, set for a release this fall.

Concerns Grow Over Potential Pricing for GTA 6

According to Insider-Gaming, the new Mario Kart: World for Switch 2 will retail for 90 euros or approximately $90 for physical copies and $80 for digital versions.

In contrast, Nintendo of America lists Mario Kart: World at a suggested price of $80.

Many GTA 6 enthusiasts interpret these figures as a troubling indication that the pricing for Rockstar’s follow-up to the critically acclaimed series might follow suit.

“Now I’m convinced GTA 6 will cost $100 if this pricing is accurate, and we could be witnessing a new standard in the gaming industry,” expressed Michael (@LegacyKillaHD) on Twitter.

YouTube creator LegacyKillaHD echoed the sentiment that GTA 6 will likely fall on the higher end of the pricing spectrum compared to typical PS5 and Xbox Series X game prices.

Many fans concurred, suggesting that given the immense popularity and demand for the game, Rockstar might price GTA VI even higher.

Commentary from fans highlighted a belief that any price point announced for GTA 6, even one as steep as $200 for an early access bundle, would still attract a large audience willing to buy it.

With the anticipation surrounding GTA 6, one user remarked, “Nintendo can operate with such pricing without backlash; I’m now mentally prepared to see GTA 6 priced at $100.”

As the gaming community waits for official word on GTA 6’s release, Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, has stated that the company intends to keep details of the game under wraps until they are closer to the launch date, which will be followed by a major marketing campaign.
