This development follows NJZ’s announcement of a hiatus after a recent court ruling favored ADOR.
K-pop girl group NJZ, previously known as NewJeans, has left many of their fans feeling perplexed and anxious due to a sudden overhaul of their social media activity. The group is currently in the midst of a legal dispute with their former management, ADOR, and its parent company, HYBE. This shift included a change of their official Instagram handle and the deletion of all previous posts, leading to increased speculation about possible internal tensions.
On April 4, it became evident that NJZ changed their Instagram username from @njz_official to @mhdhh_friends. Observant fans quickly noted the absence of prior content on their account. The new username seemingly represents the initials of each member—Minji, Haerin, Danielle, Hyein, and Hanni—suggesting that this move might be a deliberate expression of solidarity among the group.
The abrupt alteration has ignited a wave of emotional reactions across various social media platforms. One fan expressed their feelings on X (formerly Twitter) by saying, “bye bye njz_official, you deserved better and you’ll forever be missed.” Another user commented, “I miss my NJZ girls… What are they doing? Why are they not active on Instagram anymore?” A further post lamented, “NJZ instagram user is now ‘mhdhh_friends’ — the era we all sob.”
In light of growing rumors about potential rifts within the group, the parents of all five NJZ members issued a collective statement. They categorically denied any suggestions of discord and stressed that the members remain united in their choice not to return to HYBE.
“All five members have a firm stance that they cannot return to HYBE, and this decision was made after thorough discussions with their respective families. From the beginning, the members promised that they would not proceed with any legal action unless all five of them agreed. This demonstrates their deep trust and unity,” their statement conveyed.
The parents went on to affirm, “Even now, the members remain steadfast in their decision, and we, as their parents, fully respect and unwaveringly support their choices. Despite the difficult circumstances, the five members frequently meet and maintain their strong friendship. Likewise, we parents have also strengthened our bond through regular communication during these challenging times.”
This announcement comes shortly after NJZ revealed their hiatus following a judicial ruling that favored ADOR. While the future trajectory of the group remains ambiguous, their fanbase continues to stand strong, expressing hopes for clarity and a possible return to the spotlight.
