Nokia Enhances International Optical Network to Meet Hyperscale Connectivity Demands
In a significant move to bolster hyperconnectivity across data centers, Nokia has partnered with an unnamed telecommunications company, referred to here as , to develop a dedicated international Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) network in Malaysia. This infrastructure aims to address the expanding requirement for high-speed, low-latency services essential for supporting advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI).
As the demand for data continues to surge, this new optical backbone is designed to improve the management of increasing data traffic, facilitating seamless connectivity between major data centers and cable landing stations across the Malaysia-Thailand and Malaysia-Singapore borders. The initiative aligns with ‘s strategic goals of becoming a leading provider of reliable optical network services in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
Nokia’s DWDM technology is put to task to enhance the performance and capacity of ‘s existing infrastructure. By integrating their cutting-edge fifth-generation super-coherent Photonic Service Engine (PSE-Vs), this all-optical network promises better long-distance transmission efficiency, thereby increasing overall scalability and ensuring environmental sustainability through reduced energy consumption.
With this deployment, anticipates a visible uptick in its ability to manage vast amounts of data generated by hyperscaler customers, addressing the increasing need for cloud applications and services in real time. The structure will allow for the more efficient handling of substantial data flows, making the network robust enough to cater to future growth.
Furthermore, the integration of Nokia’s WaveSuite platform will support in optimizing network performance and creating monetization opportunities through service enablement applications. This holistic approach aims not only to enhance user experience but also to bolster operational efficiency.
John Harrington, Senior Vice President and Head of Asia Pacific Sales for Network Infrastructure at Nokia, remarked: “Our partnership with reflects our commitment to assisting in the acceleration of AI adoption and managing the ever-increasing demands for hyperconnectivity. Our advanced optical solutions are set to deliver a world-class network experience while prioritizing sustainability through local manufacturing and technical support.”
