(FOX40.COM) — A casino in Northern California is set to embark on a significant multi-billion-dollar project aimed at developing a unique entertainment district, poised to reshape the local landscape.
The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Sacramento at Fire Mountain, which spans 40 acres, has recently expanded its reach by acquiring an additional 350 acres. This largely undeveloped area between the casino and the Toyota Amphitheatre has remained untouched for many years, but plans are in place to transform it into what officials anticipate will be a premier destination. The upcoming entertainment district is expected to feature a variety of attractions, including festival venues, rodeo grounds, sports and resort facilities, retail options, dining establishments, walking paths, and potentially stadiums and fairgrounds.
“This development will generate thousands of jobs and significantly improve the quality of life for local residents by expanding dining, entertainment, and retail selections,” stated District 4 Yuba County Supervisor Gary Bradford. “Moreover, it will enhance tax revenues and could draw millions of visitors to Yuba County to experience this new destination.”
Since its opening in 2019, the Hard Rock has reportedly injected nearly $2.5 billion into the local economy. While the casino operates on tribal lands, the new expansion will be on non-tribal land, thus enabling regular sales and property taxes to contribute directly to Yuba County’s finances.
Officials have estimated that the new developments will cost between $2 billion and $4 billion. Although construction is anticipated to last anywhere from 5 to 10 years, groundbreaking could commence as early as 2026.
