NXT Stand & Deliver: Champions Retain Titles in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS – At the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday, Oba Femi and Stephanie Vaquer entered NXT Stand & Deliver as champions and exited with their titles intact, showcasing their formidable skills in the ring.
In a thrilling triple-threat match, Femi bested Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans, showcasing his resilience against Evans’ high-flying maneuvers and Williams’ sneaky tactics. The highlight of the contest was Femi’s raw power, demonstrated when he launched Evans through the barricade, proving he could withstand the agility of his opponents.
As the match neared its conclusion, Evans executed a corkscrew splash from the top rope, which momentarily shifted the momentum. However, as Williams attempted a surprise move on Evans, Femi capitalized by delivering a pop-up powerbomb to Evans, securing his title with a decisive three count.
Meanwhile, Stephanie Vaquer faced a formidable challenge for her Women’s NXT championship against Giulia, Jordynne Grace, and Jaida Parker. The match commenced with an unlikely alliance between Vaquer and Giulia, but quickly turned competitive as Giulia landed several punishing headbutts on Vaquer.
Parker also showcased her strength by cornering both opponents, creating chaos with her powerful attacks. The crowd was electrified as the competitors executed submissions, though none succeeded in forcing a tap-out. Vaquer’s keen awareness shone through when she broke a pin attempt on Parker just as the finish approached, ultimately pinning Parker to retain her title.
In other matches, Tatum Paxley and Gigi Dolan prevailed in a women’s fatal four-way gauntlet match, eliminating both Cora Jade and Jacy Jayne to set up a future clash against the winner of the upcoming tag team title match featuring Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez opposing Bayley and Lyra Valkyria.
Ricky Saints defended his North American championship against Ethan Page, earning an enthusiastic response from the audience to kick off the event. However, a standout performance came from the unlikely duo Hank and Tank, who delivered a shocking upset by dethroning Nathan Fraser and Axiom, thus ending their impressive 230-day reign as NXT tag-team champions.
Sol Ruca emerged as a breakout star, capturing her first NXT singles championship in a ladder match against five competitors, employing her signature move, the Sol Snatcher, to seize victory.
The event also witnessed a dramatic turn of events with the D’Angelo Family, as Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo betrayed Tony D’Angelo during a match against DarkState. This split proved costly, allowing DarkState’s trio—Osiris Griffin, Saquon Shugars, and Dion Lennox—to claim the victory, much to the dismay of the fans.
NXT Stand & Deliver serves as a crucial event in the wrestling calendar, often showcasing talent poised for a potential main roster call-up. With performances like these, it’s evident that many wrestlers may soon find themselves on a larger stage.
