Nyan Heroes: A New Chapter in Hero Shooters Set to Launch in Winter 2025

Nyan Heroes, an innovative hero shooter featuring adorable cats piloting massive mechs, has officially announced its launch window and released a teaser story trailer. Players can expect to experience this unique game in winter 2025.

The first look at the narrative behind Nyan Heroes comes from 9 Lives Interactive, illustrating the inspiring motivations of its feline heroes, who are driven by a sense of family and community to excel in their battles.

Set in the colorful underground realm of Nekovia, the Nyan Heroes aspire to reclaim their rightful place above ground, which has been overtaken by a feral robot uprising. Players can currently enjoy a diverse selection of seven unique cat pilots and their corresponding mechs, including Luna, a pivotal character introduced in the trailer.

With a compelling backstory influenced by her late brother, who died in combat, Luna takes command of his Guardian mech as she joins the fight in the Battledome. Despite her natural shyness, Luna displays unwavering determination to honor her brother’s memory through valor and resilience. Her mech, named Atlas, serves as a heavy tank, able to absorb significant damage while dealing area-of-effect damage to adversaries.

Aiming for Mainstream Appeal

Nyan Heroes is a team-based hero shooter designed with the intent of achieving broad market success, crafted by a team of seasoned developers known for their work on iconic games such as Halo, Destiny, Eve Online, World of Tanks, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Call of Duty, among others.

The game is currently in the midst of its fourth public playtest, which features the introduction of two new heroes, Gizmo and Coco. These characters bring strategic capabilities to nurture and shield their teammates. Players can also experience the new Fishball game mode and explore the expansive Tokyo game map. Additional details about the latest updates can be found here.

Max Fu, the creator and CEO of 9 Lives Interactive, envisions Nyan Heroes as a fresh and accessible intellectual property amidst a landscape filled with sequels and established franchises. The game aims to present exciting gameplay mechanics, including wall running and a customizable weapons system known as MODS. Furthermore, it offers optional Web3 features that allow interested players to own in-game assets, all while ensuring that the core experience remains free-to-play and universally enjoyable.

Players eager to participate in the playtest can do so until April 14 by downloading Nyan Heroes from the Epic Games store here.

Founded in 2021, 9 Lives Interactive is an independent game studio pushing the limits of Web3 gaming with Nyan Heroes as its inaugural title. The studio leverages Unreal Engine 5 and blockchain technology, backed by industry veterans with experience from hit games such as Marvel’s Avengers, Destiny, and Halo.
