New Opportunities for TSA PreCheck Enrollment in NYC
As summer approaches, the travel industry gears up for an influx of passengers, and a new initiative aims to streamline the airport experience for travelers this season.
TSA PreCheck, operated by the Transportation Security Administration, accelerates the security screening process for its members. The program allows members to access exclusive screening lines, bypassing typical regulations like removing shoes and laptops, which considerably hastens the screening procedure. With over 20 million enrollees, TSA PreCheck has gained immense popularity among frequent travelers.
This spring, potential members in New York City can take advantage of several pop-up enrollment events designed to facilitate easy sign-up. The TSA’s authorized enrollment agent, Telos Corporation, has announced two key locations for these events, occurring from March 25 to March 29, 2025. These will be held at Rockefeller Center and inside the MetLife Building, conveniently located near Grand Central Station. Telos is collaborating with ItsEasy, a passport and visa expediter, to run these events.
Operating hours for the events are set as follows: March 25 and March 28 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and March 26 and March 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The final event on March 29 will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The precise locations for enrollment are the MetLife Building Lobby at 200 Park Ave., New York, NY 10166, and at 30 Rockefeller Plaza on the Concourse Level, New York, NY 10112.
Appointments are required to participate in the pop-up events. Travelers can secure their spots by checking availability on the TSA’s website, choosing their preferred location. The TSA PreCheck membership, which lasts for five years, is available for an initial fee of $85.
The enrollment process includes photo capture, fingerprinting, identity verification, and payment collection. According to an event spokesperson, most participants can expect to receive their TSA PreCheck eligibility within three to five days of completing the process.
Individuals who are unable to attend the New York City pop-ups can find numerous other TSA-authorized enrollment centers across the country. Travelers can visit the official TSA PreCheck Enrollment Centers website to search for their nearest locations. This includes participation from national retailers like Staples and Office Depot, along with third-party companies such as Telos, Idemia, and CLEAR.
Major airports, including Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and New York-John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), also provide on-site opportunities to enroll in TSA PreCheck.
Additionally, various credit card companies and frequent flyer loyalty programs offer TSA PreCheck as an added benefit. The TSA maintains an online listing of credit cards, including those from American Express and Chase, that provide this feature, alongside loyalty programs such as IHG One Rewards, Marriott Bonvoy, and United Mileage Plus.
