The inclusion of two pairs of Zs certainly simplified the puzzle, even though I found myself initially considering Freeze as a potential word.
Interestingly, the term “Mizzle” refers to a specific type of winter weather that might have been relevant today; it describes a mixture of drizzle and mist and is often regarded as particularly dreary. In regions of the UK, it’s affectionately known as Scotch Mist, which carries a more poetic ring.
In pondering variations on weather-related terms, I mused whether “BLIZZARD” could ironically have a misty counterpart—perhaps “Mizzard”? However, that term doesn’t seem to have made its debut. On a lighter note, I stumbled on a nine-second YouTube clip featuring a ‘lizard wizard in a blizzard’ that has garnered 40,000 views.
