Oasis Fans Disappointed as Ticketmaster Cancels Tickets Over Bot Purchases
A wave of disappointment has swept through Oasis fans eagerly anticipating the band’s 2025 reunion tour, as Ticketmaster has started canceling tickets it suspects were bought by automated bots.
Reports from the Guardian indicate that Ticketmaster initiated this action over the weekend, notifying ticket buyers via email that their purchases would be refunded. Many recipients assert that they legitimately secured their tickets.
The email sent to affected fans stated, “It has been identified that bots were used to make this purchase,” which it claims “violate the tour’s terms and conditions.”
The conditions were expressly designed to prevent the resale of tickets on unauthorized platforms for profit. Ticketmaster and the event organizers have consistently urged fans to refrain from such purchases to avoid potential fraud and refund issues.
Leighah Conroy, a fan whose tickets for an Oasis concert in Manchester were canceled, expressed her frustration, stating, “To say that we’re bots is totally out of order for Ticketmaster because we tried all day to get the tickets. It just feels like my dreams have been completely crushed.”
Another ticket holder, who claimed to have purchased tickets legitimately and had booked non-refundable flights for the concert, shared their disbelief upon receiving the Ticketmaster email: “At first we thought this email was fake or a spam email, but no, it was true.”
In light of the backlash, Ticketmaster released an Oasis Refunds FAQ, stating that processes to refund tickets that purportedly breached the tour’s terms will commence on February 7.
The FAQ also indicated, “The examination of ticket sales is ongoing and the results will be passed to relevant law enforcement once complete where appropriate.” Ticketmaster reassured fans that refunded tickets would be made available again at face value through their official channels. Furthermore, they reiterated the importance of avoiding unauthorized ticketing websites, as these may pose risks of fraud.
For those fans whose tickets were canceled and believe it to be an error, there might still be a sliver of hope, as Ticketmaster has recommended filling out a form for the tour’s promoters to review their cases.
