What you need to know
OnePlus has officially unveiled its latest smartphone, the OnePlus 13T, in China. This device features a compact 6.3-inch flat FHD Plus display, accompanied by impressive camera capabilities including a robust 50MP primary lens and another 50MP telephoto lens. At its core, the OnePlus 13T is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, which boasts enhanced AI functionalities aimed at improving photography, note-taking, and various other tasks through the ColorOS 15 interface. The device is also designed with gamers in mind, offering up to 120 FPS for multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) games and optimizations for numerous popular titles. While global availability details remain under wraps, the anticipation for a broader release continues to grow.
Following a series of teasers on social media platforms, OnePlus launched the 13T, targeting consumers who appreciate a smaller form factor. In contrast to the flagship OnePlus 13, which features a larger 6.8-inch QHD Plus display, the 13T’s more manageable size is noted for its 120Hz refresh rate and lightweight design, enabling one-handed usage without discomfort.
Another intriguing aspect of this model is the introduction of a new “shortcut key” that replaces the iconic Alert Slider. This multipurpose button, located on the upper left edge of the device, facilitates swift access to various functions such as flashlight activation, sound settings, and camera operations.
Despite its compact build, OnePlus emphasizes that the 13T does not compromise on performance, integrating the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite processor to enhance its functionality.
Gaming & AI Power
OnePlus asserts that the Snapdragon 8 Elite significantly elevates the gaming experience on the 13T. Gamers can expect remarkable performance with frames reaching up to 120 FPS in MOBA titles, such as League of Legends, and around 60 FPS in expansive open-world games like Genshin Impact. The device also features tailored optimizations to ensure a smooth and enjoyable gaming experience.
On the AI front, the OnePlus 13T introduces innovative features like reflection removal in photography. The smartphone also implements AI Elimination—akin to Magic Eraser—allowing users to effortlessly erase people or unwanted objects from their photos. Moreover, the ColorOS 15 system is packed with additional AI enhancements, including AI Call Translation and upgraded capabilities for note-taking through Flash Memory.
Long-lasting Glacier Tech
Amid its array of features, OnePlus promotes a sense of reliability with the 13T’s Glacier battery technology. Notably, the 13T differs from its counterparts, the OnePlus 13 and 13R, both of which carry a 6,000mAh battery; the 13T is equipped with a slightly larger 6,260mAh battery. To complement this, the smartphone supports 80W super-fast charging, minimizing downtime and keeping users connected.
In terms of specifications, the OnePlus 13T offers IP65 dust and water resistance, a dual-camera setup with a 50MP primary and 50MP telephoto lens, and a 16MP front-facing camera. Potential buyers can choose from several RAM and storage configurations, including options of 12GB or 16GB of RAM with up to 1TB of storage.
Currently, the OnePlus 13T is available in the Chinese market at a price of approximately 3,999 Chinese Yuan (around $548). Whether this model will find its way to international markets, including the U.S., remains uncertain, though speculation suggests a possible launch in the summer season.
