Authorities in Windsor, Ontario, are announcing a substantial reward of $20,000 to encourage information related to the unsolved murder of a mother of three, a case that dates back 30 years.
Diane Dobson, just 36 years old, was last seen walking along Prince Road on the evening of February 14, 1995. Her body was discovered the next day in a ditch located in the Brighton Beach area, leading investigators to determine that she had suffered a violent death, with a severe head injury identified as the cause.
On Wednesday, police released the reward as part of an ongoing effort to gather fresh leads in the investigation. “There are individuals who possess information about this horrific event or know who is responsible,” Insp. Scott Jeffery conveyed during a briefing. “We hope the financial incentive will motivate these individuals to step forward and share what they know.”
Officials are reaching out not just to potential new witnesses, but also to those who might have been interviewed in the past. “We are looking to talk to anyone who has relevant information about Dobson’s murder,” the inspector added.
In the lead-up to the 30th anniversary of Dobson’s death last month, Windsor police reaffirmed their commitment to solve the case and publicly urged community members for any insights that may have been overlooked previously. Staff Sgt. Ted Novak emphasized the importance of renewed interest in the case: “We know there are people who have crucial information, and we strongly encourage them to come forward, even if they have previously communicated with our investigators.”
Furthermore, law enforcement has announced plans to resubmit DNA samples for advanced testing techniques that have developed over the years. They are hopeful that these advancements in forensic technology may yield new leads and possibly identify suspects linked to this long-standing case.
The passing of time has not diminished the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and the community to seek justice for Diane Dobson and her family, and the recently offered reward stands as a testament to their commitment.
