Oxipital AI has introduced its latest innovation, the VX2 Vision System, utilizing artificial intelligence for efficient inspection and high-speed picking across both food-grade and industrial sectors. This new system is built on the company’s unique Visual AI platform and features a smaller, more affordable design compared to its predecessor.

Austin Harvey, the vice president of product at Oxipital, emphasized the significance of customer feedback in driving innovation, stating, “The VX2 is the result of that philosophy in action. It’s smaller, more powerful, and more versatile, enabling our customers to build more resilient manufacturing processes.”

Previously operating under the name Soft Robotics, Oxipital focuses on developing advanced machine vision technology for product inspection and robotic process automation in essential industries, including food processing, agriculture, and consumer goods manufacturing.

Based in Bedford, Massachusetts, the company’s mission is to provide actionable insights through deep object understanding as industries transition to Industry 5.0, aiming for improved resilience, efficiency, and sustainability in manufacturing operations.

VX2 Vision System includes several enhancements

The VX2 Vision System marks a significant upgrade over its first-generation counterpart. Oxipital highlights that customer insights and extensive field experience prompted enhancements that cater to the shifting demands of the industrial sector.

Oxipital has outlined several key improvements in the VX2 system:

Compact and powerful: The VX2 integrates more processing capability within a more efficient and compact design, enhancing flexibility for installations in constrained spaces or complex operational environments.

Versatile application: Tailored for both food-grade and industrial applications, the VX2 excels in high-speed handling, inspection tasks, and their combination, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in demanding workflows.

Enhanced Visual AI platform: The platform now offers faster and more accurate decision-making, which contributes to high-performance operations in real time.

Better price point: The VX2, despite its substantial enhancements, is offered at a more competitive price, making it an appealing choice for businesses looking to upgrade their systems without a large financial investment.

Oxipital AI applies vision to industry needs

Unveiling the VX2 at PACK EXPO this month, Oxipital signified its dedication to technological advancement that tackles current industry challenges. The company remarked, “Oxipital AI continues to push the boundaries of what is possible with vision systems in automated environments.” Notably, Soft Robotics had previously specialized in compliant grippers before transitioning to vision AI.

Additionally, Oxipital has formed partnerships with industry leaders like Schmalz and Velec, and has been nominated as a finalist for the PACK EXPO Food and Beverage Technology Excellence Award, underlining its commitment to innovation in the field.
