Ozzy Osbourne is set to perform from a distinctive throne at what is being touted as the final concert of Black Sabbath. The event is scheduled for July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, as part of the Back to the Beginning show, which promises to be a nostalgic reunion of the legendary band.
The 76-year-old rock icon, who has faced significant health challenges including neck and spinal issues as well as Parkinson’s disease, is determined to make this performance memorable despite occasionally requiring a wheelchair.
Zakk Wylde, a longtime collaborator and guitarist, hinted at the possibility of Ozzy’s throne taking flight during the performance. He elaborated, stating that it could soar over the audience while Ozzy engages in theatrical elements such as shooting water into the crowd. Wylde expressed enthusiasm for the concert and the potential for it to reignite Ozzy’s desire to tour again, emphasizing the excitement of performing classic Black Sabbath songs.
Ozzy himself commented on his role in the concert, indicating that while he won’t be delivering a full set, he will participate in select performances with his bandmates. During a recent segment of his SiriusXM show, Ozzy Speaks, he mentioned, “I am doing what I can, where I feel comfortable. I am trying to get back on my feet… When you get up in the morning, you just jump out of bed. I have to balance myself, but I’m not dead. I’m still actively doing things.”
The Back to the Beginning concert is poised to be a dream lineup for metal fans, featuring not only Black Sabbath and Ozzy but also a host of iconic bands like Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Pantera, Lamb Of God, Mastodon, Alice In Chains, Halestorm, and Grammy Award-winning Gojira. This gathering of legendary acts underscores the enduring legacy and impact of Ozzy Osbourne and his band, marking a significant moment in rock history.
