Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Faces Multiple Sexual Assault Lawsuits
New allegations surface amid ongoing criminal proceedings
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is currently facing seven new lawsuits, one of which includes a shocking allegation of the rape of a 13-year-old girl. These lawsuits have emerged as his legal team seeks to secure his release on bail, while expressing concerns that the recent media attention could jeopardize his right to a fair trial.
The lawsuits were filed on Sunday across both state and federal courts, with four men and three women—who remain anonymous—claiming they were sexually assaulted by Combs during parties spanning the last twenty years.
At 54 years old, Combs has denied the federal sex trafficking charges against him, which came to light following his arrest on September 16. The charges allege that he has engaged in a long history of coercion and abuse against women, allegedly using threats, blackmail, and violence to silence his victims, which reportedly includes incidents of kidnapping and arson.
Combs remains in custody as he awaits a trial scheduled for May 5, after two separate judges denied his bail requests. Those decisions are currently under appeal at the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
In a legal move made on Sunday, Combs’ attorneys requested a judge to prohibit potential witnesses and their lawyers from making statements that could influence the ongoing trial. They argued that these statements have been damaging to his reputation in the public eye.
“As the Court is aware, Mr. Combs has been the target of an unending stream of allegations by prospective witnesses and their counsel in the press,” his team stated. “These prospective witnesses and their lawyers have made numerous inflammatory extrajudicial statements aimed at assassinating Mr. Combs’s character in the press.”
These new lawsuits are part of what the plaintiffs’ lawyers claim is over 100 accusers preparing to legally challenge Combs. Attorney Tony Buzbee highlighted this intention during a press conference on October 1 and encouraged other accusers to come forward through a hotline he established.
Representatives for Combs have dismissed the recent lawsuits, labeling them as efforts to attract public attention. They expressed confidence in their legal strategies and the overall integrity of the judicial system, firmly stating that Combs has “never sexually assaulted anyone—adult or minor, man or woman.”
One of the lawsuits details an event from September 2000, alleging that a 13-year-old girl, who was escorted to a party by a limousine driver after the Video Music Awards in Manhattan, was raped by a “male celebrity” and subsequently by Combs, with other unnamed celebrities present during the incident.
Another lawsuit accuses Combs of assaulting a 17-year-old male at a hotel penthouse in Manhattan in 2022. The plaintiffs have claimed they were provided drinks that were allegedly laced with drugs before they experienced assaults.
Meanwhile, Combs’ lawyers filed a motion with the 2nd Circuit, indicating that they will seek to renew their bail application based on “significant changed circumstances,” citing constitutional concerns about his confinement conditions and recent discoveries in the case.
Prosecutors previously informed the appeals court that the reasons for denying bail were based on evidence suggesting that Combs employed organized tactics to intimidate and silence witnesses throughout the investigation into the alleged racketeering activities.
