The anticipated period drama, Kesari Veer: Legends of Somnath, featuring Suniel Shetty, will not be distributed in Pakistan following the assassination-related violence in Pahalgam, Kashmir. Producer Kanu Chauhan from Chauhan Studios announced this decision, emphasizing it as a “moral stand” against the violence that has resulted in tragic loss of life.

This historical action-drama, which includes performances by Sooraj Pancholi, Vivek Oberoi, and Akanksha Sharma, highlights the courageous defense of the Somnath Temple by valiant warriors during the 14th century. The film pays tribute to their bravery and sacrifice, transforming its release into a form of solidarity with victims of terrorism.

In an interview with SCREEN, Kanu Chauhan stated, “I have directed my overseas distributor to prevent any release of my film in Pakistan following the heinous attack by Pakistani-based militants on Indian territory. My stance is clear: I refuse to allow my film to be shown in Pakistan. There is no justification for such cowardly acts against our nation. I have firmly decided that Kesari Veer will not be released in Pakistan—this is a moral stand in honor of the innocent victims of this terror attack.”

Despite the film’s exclusion from the Pakistani market, Kesari Veer is set for theatrical release in India and other international markets, including the USA, Gulf countries, the UK, and North America. The official trailer is slated for launch on April 29 in Mumbai.

On a personal note, Suniel Shetty is also celebrating a new milestone in his life as he embraces grandparenthood. His daughter, Athiya Shetty, and cricketer KL Rahul welcomed their daughter on March 24, 2025. Suniel expressed his heartfelt emotions regarding becoming a grandfather in a touching post on LinkedIn.

“Holding this little one in my arms and watching Athiya step into such a fulfilling role in her life fills me with a sense of joy and lightness. Life has taught me to keep things simple and to cherish every moment,” he wrote.
