Palo Alto Networks to Acquire AI Security Firm Protect AI
Palo Alto Networks has made an announcement regarding its intention to acquire Protect AI, a vendor specializing in AI security solutions. This acquisition aims to enhance its Prisma AIRS security platform, which currently features AI agent capabilities.
While the exact financial terms of the acquisition have not been publicly disclosed, analysts from the investment banking and capital markets firm Jefferies estimate that the deal could cost between $650 million and $700 million. Protect AI, based in Seattle, is designed to offer comprehensive security measures that cover everything from model selection to deployment and runtime monitoring for AI and machine learning applications.
“As AI-powered applications become integral to business operations, they introduce risks that traditional security tools are often ill-equipped to manage. With the integration of Protect AI’s cutting-edge solutions, we aim to expand our AI security capabilities, enabling businesses to develop AI applications with robust security frameworks,” stated Anand Oswal, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Palo Alto Networks, in a recent press release.
