Exploring the Luxurious Paraiso de la Bonita in Riviera Maya

Paraiso de la Bonita is an adults-only, all-inclusive resort from Marriott’s esteemed Luxury Collection, situated just 20 minutes from Cancun International Airport. This beachfront haven boasts 100 suites, each offering stunning views of the Caribbean Sea, with private terraces and balconies for guests to enjoy. The resort features a variety of culinary options with four dedicated restaurants and three bars, including K’uhul, which showcases the vibrant flavors of the Yucatán Peninsula. Additionally, the property is home to a 22,000-square-foot Thalasso Spa Center, equipped with a Mayan steam bath and a seawater hydrotherapy pool, along with a range of holistic treatments available for relaxation and rejuvenation.

This exclusive retreat on the Riviera Maya is nestled between a lush mangrove reserve and the picturesque white sands of the Caribbean coastline, opening its doors on January 30.

Paraiso de la Bonita provides a unique experience with its 100 oceanfront suites, featuring contemporary design and luxurious amenities, alongside a notable culinary scene with seven restaurants and bars and an expansive spa. The resort is a joint venture between Playa Hotels & Resorts and Marriott International, marking the third addition of an all-inclusive resort to Marriott’s Luxury Collection, joining Sanctuary Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic and Almare on Isla Mujeres.

“Playa is excited to collaborate again with Marriott, as The Luxury Collection brand resonates perfectly with the distinctive character and atmosphere of this remarkable property,” expressed Fernando Mulet, the executive vice president and chief investment officer of Playa Hotels & Resorts, in a statement to Travel + Leisure. “This partnership enhances our position in the all-inclusive market, allowing us to introduce a refreshing concept in an area where we already have a strong foothold.”

The suites at Paraiso de la Bonita are thoughtfully designed, showcasing handcrafted furnishings adorned with calming neutral hues and artwork reflecting traditional Mexican aesthetics. Each spacious suite, beginning at 1,130 square feet, is equipped with luxurious soaking tubs and a private outdoor space, perfect for enjoying scenic ocean views.

The resort’s diverse dining options include K’uhul, which focuses on Yucatán regional cuisine; Joya, emphasizing charcoal and wood-fired techniques; Côté à Costa, offering Mediterranean flavors; and Qin Qin, featuring modern Chinese dishes. Guests can also unwind at Mi Lugar piano bar, Bonita, or the all-day Buena Onda, which offers coffee and fresh juices in the morning and tasty cocktails on the beach throughout the day. A notable highlight is the property’s impressive 5,000-bottle wine cellar.

The centerpiece of relaxation at the resort is the extensive Thalasso Spa Center, where visitors can indulge in holistic treatments such as cacao body wraps and massages utilizing oils sourced from local ingredients. Signature therapies like the Thalasso treatment draw on the therapeutic benefits of seawater and marine mud, complemented by spa facilities that include a traditional Mayan steam bath and sauna, as well as nine treatment rooms.

Guests looking for activities can take advantage of numerous included experiences, such as wine tastings, cooking workshops, tennis, yoga sessions, and snorkeling opportunities. While many excursions are complimentary, some, like private yacht charters and scuba diving trips, may incur additional costs. The surrounding area offers easy access to remarkable attractions, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sian Ka’an Biosphere, stunning cenotes, and the famous ancient Mayan site of Chichén Itzá.

Nightly rates at Paraiso de la Bonita begin at $757, and bookings can be made through paraisodelabonita.mx.
