Paresh Rawal Discusses Phir Hera Pheri’s Shortcomings

Paresh Rawal has pointed out some critical flaws in the movie Phir Hera Pheri, indicating that it “lost its innocence” compared to the charming allure of the original film.

Paresh Rawal, who is best recognized for his role as Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in the popular Hera Pheri series, recently expressed his views regarding Phir Hera Pheri and the upcoming Hera Pheri 3. Despite featuring the same leading trio of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Rawal, the actor confessed that the sequel did not capture the enchanting essence of its predecessor, even though it achieved commercial success.

In a discussion with Siddharth Kannan, Rawal remarked, “There was a sense of overconfidence among the makers. The film lost its freshness. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out to be commendable.” He highlighted that the sequel’s overcomplicated scenes detracted from the straightforward humor that the first Hera Pheri managed to deliver. He commented, “Simplicity and balance are pivotal. Audiences will laugh at virtually anything, but you don’t have to resort to extreme antics for humor,” he noted.

Reflecting upon his character, Baburao, Rawal pointed out that there remains a wealth of potential in developing the role further. He drew a comparison to Lage Raho Munna Bhai, which he appreciates for its profound evolution of characters. “I truly admire Lage Raho Munna Bhai as a sequel to Munna Bhai MBBS. That was a transformative leap. I respect anyone who can produce a sequel of such caliber,” he commented, underlining that effective sequels should prioritize character development over just recycling past jokes for financial gain.

In more recent developments, Rawal confirmed that Kartik Aaryan will not be part of the cast for Hera Pheri 3. He clarified that the storyline has undergone notable alterations and will now return to feature the original trio: Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and himself. The actor also mentioned that filming for the third installment is expected to begin around August or September.

With the original cast coming back together, fans of the Hera Pheri series can look forward to another exciting chapter filled with humor, nostalgic references, and the unique chaos that has made the franchise a beloved classic.
