Paresh Rawal revealed that Veeru Devgan suggested him to drink his own urine first thing in the morning to fix his knee injury.
Paresh Rawal is set to appear in the upcoming film Bhooth Bangla.
In a recent interview, veteran actor Paresh Rawal shared an unconventional recovery method that he used for a knee injury sustained during the filming of Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ghatak. After injuring his leg while filming a scene with Rakesh Pandey, he was quickly taken to Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai by fellow filmmakers Tinnu Anand and Danny Denzongpa. Rawal expressed feeling ‘petrified’ at the time, fearing it could mark the end of his career. However, he received an unexpected visitor: the late action director Veeru Devgan, who offered intriguing advice to aid in his recovery.
Speaking to The Lallantop, Paresh recalled, “Veeru Devgan visited me at Nanavati (hospital). He wanted to know about my injury, so I explained what had happened.” He then recounted Devgan’s rather unorthodox recommendation: “He advised me to drink my own urine first thing in the morning. All fighters do this, he claimed. It will solve any issues you face. He insisted that I avoid alcohol—which I had already given up—as well as mutton and tobacco, suggesting I stick to regular food and include urine in my morning routine.”
Rawal reflected on this unusual advice, admitting that he didn’t plan to down it in one go. “I decided to sip it like a beer; if I was going to do it, I wanted to do it right. I followed this regimen for 15 days,” he explained. To his surprise, his doctor was astonished when the X-ray results showed significant healing. “There was a white lining, indicating recovery. Typically, such an injury would take 2 to 2.5 months to heal, but I was back on my feet in just a month and a half,” Rawal added.
Looking ahead in his career, Paresh Rawal is scheduled to appear in Priyadarshan’s horror comedy Bhooth Bangla, which stars Akshay Kumar and Tabu. Additionally, he has been cast in the much-anticipated Hera Pheri 3 alongside Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty.
