During the encore, Starr took to his drums to join McCartney on tunes like “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)” and “Helter Skelter.” Fans can catch a glimpse of this memorable moment through available footage.
After paying tribute to the late John Lennon with “I’ve Got A Feeling,” McCartney announced to an enthusiastic audience, “We’ve got another surprise for you. Bring to the stage the mighty, the one and only Mr. Ringo Starr.” The pair embraced before McCartney playfully urged Starr to “get on your kit” as they rocked out for the audience.
Adding to the excitement, Ronnie Wood from The Rolling Stones joined the performance, showcasing his guitar skills on “Got Back.” McCartney took a moment to recount the story of his beloved old bass guitar that was stolen decades ago and eventually returned following a public appeal. Holding the reclaimed Höfner on stage, he noted, “I haven’t played it in 50 years,” marking its return to the spotlight.
Launched in 2022, the “Got Back” tour saw the 82-year-old McCartney travel worldwide, highlighted by his headline performance at Glastonbury Festival in June. Following shows in the U.S. and Latin America, the tour concluded in Europe and the U.K. over the past few weeks.
The concert was a star-studded affair, with celebrities like Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Kate Moss, Dame Judi Dench, Greta Gerwig, and others in attendance.
The evening also featured a festive treat as McCartney performed his 1979 classic “Wonderful Christmastime,” accented by the Capital Choir’s harmony and a flurry of snow confetti that enhanced the holiday spirit.
In addition to his solo hits, he delivered a selection of timeless Beatles tracks, including “Let It Be,” “Hey Jude,” and “Something,” alongside favorites from Wings, such as “Live and Let Die” and “Band On The Run.” McCartney appeared particularly moved during “Now and Then,” the recently released Beatles track finalized with the help of AI technology. Though McCartney does not have any further performances scheduled in the near future, he assured his audience, “we’ll see you again soon.”
