Experience Horror Like Never Before at The Stanley Hotel This Halloween

The Stanley Hotel is elevating the Halloween experience by combining iconic horror films with an immersive adventure this October. Known for inspiring the Overlook Hotel in The Shining (1980) and the sequel Doctor Sleep (2019), this historic establishment in Estes Park, Colorado, is partnered with Blumhouse and Peacock to provide horror enthusiasts with four exhilarating movie-themed experiences during the spooky season. An official announcement from The Stanley Hotel shares the following enticing details:

“Check in… if you dare […] This exclusive immersive weekend will give horror fans the chance to step inside the spine-chilling worlds of some of your favorite Blumhouse films. Set against the ominous backdrop of The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO — the very place that inspired Stephen King’s bestselling novel, The Shining — OVERNIGHTMARE will be filled with electrifying scares, interactive activities, shady characters and heart-pounding horror.”

At the Overnightmare at The Stanley, guests can choose their accommodations from four different themes inspired by Blumhouse productions: Insidious (2010), The Purge (2013), Happy Death Day (2017), and Freaky (2020). For those intrigued, further details about each experience can be found via the hotel’s website. Notably, the presented “daggers” in each description serve to indicate the level of terror associated with each film, with all four movies available for streaming on Peacock throughout October.

The Stanley Hotel Is Bringing the Spooky This Halloween

This October, some of Blumhouse’s most popular films will be transformed into thrilling immersive experiences at The Stanley Hotel. Guests can select from the Insidious, The Purge, Happy Death Day, or Freaky experiences, where each visitor will navigate their own harrowing journey based on their choice. The announcement elaborates on the visitor experience:

“Based on your selection, you will be dragged — we mean, invited — into the world of that film for a fright night you won’t soon forget. Will you survive the relentless evil of Insidious? Face the chaos of The Purge? Step into the twisted fun of Freaky? Or relive the repeating terror of Happy Death Day?”

The event, Overnightmare at The Stanley, will run from Friday, October 18, through Sunday, October 20. Each package caters to two guests, offering not only accommodations but a variety of haunting experiences during their stay. The following amenities will be included:

“Two night stay in one specially themed double-occupancy room in The Lodge | One Scare Experience | One complimentary welcome dinner | $100 credit toward breakfast and/or lunch at Brunch & Co (restaurant in The Lodge) | Two complimentary drink tickets (per guest) redeemable in The Blumhouse Bar | Free Screenings Nightly | Interactive moments, photo opps and more.”

For those eager to explore the real history behind The Shining’s inspiration and to make their reservations, further information is available on the official website of The Stanley Hotel. It’s worth noting that all experiences carry an R rating, and participants must be at least 21 years old. As of now, the admission price for each experience is set at $1,031.00.

In addition to the Overnightmare, The Stanley will also host The Shining Ball on Saturday, October 26, marking the 50th anniversary of Stephen King’s stay at the iconic Colorado hotel.
