The Mandalorian & Grogu: Exciting Developments Ahead

Among the numerous Star Wars projects in the pipeline at Disney, the most confirmed release for next year is The Mandalorian & Grogu, scheduled to hit theaters on May 22, 2026. This film sees Pedro Pascal return as the iconic character Mando, continuing the story set between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. This time, he and Grogu embark on what Pascal describes as “one of the best adventures ever made.”

During a recent appearance at Star Wars Celebration Japan, Pascal shared insights with IMDb about the upcoming film. He commended the elaborate sets and the vision of creator and director Jon Favreau, remarking, “the series alone had some of the most incredible sets that I’ve ever seen in my life, and the way that they top that in the movie is not anything I thought was possible.”

He further expressed his admiration for Favreau’s talents, stating, “There have been so many instances where I’ve just looked back at Jon and said directly to him, ‘How the hell did you do this?’ I think he’s a genius, and I realized that he is my Jedi Master. His storytelling, world-building, and character development—both old and new—are unparalleled.” According to Pascal, the cinematic quality will meet and exceed these high standards.

Pedro Pascal Is Joined by a True Legend in ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’

Joining Pascal in this installment is genre icon Sigourney Weaver, who will portray a veteran pilot for the Rebel Alliance. Having made her mark in the Alien franchise, Weaver expressed her excitement about stepping into the Star Wars universe. “I love that there’s a lot of reality to these movies as well as fantasy,” she noted. “I feel very honored to be part of it. I didn’t expect to join another franchise, and what a cool franchise.”

The film also welcomes The Bear star Jeremy Allen White, who is set to appear as Rotta, the son of Jabba the Hutt. Additionally, Jonny Coyne will reprise his role as an Imperial Warlord, adding to the rich tapestry of characters already established in the Star Wars lore.

As details surrounding The Mandalorian & Grogu continue to evolve, fans can look forward to a unique cinematic experience. Until the film’s release, all three seasons of the series are currently available for streaming on Disney+.
