PETA has publicly expressed concerns regarding MrBeast after the well-known YouTuber humorously sought volunteers for a video centered on the provocative question: could 100 men defeat a single gorilla?
In late April, a light-hearted hypothetical question captivated the internet: can 100 men join forces to overpower a gorilla?
This debate sparked a whirlwind of conversations, with people engaging in simulations, specialists sharing insights, and content creators assembling their ideal teams for this imagined showdown.
Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson later declared he was looking for 100 volunteers to bring this spectacle to life, garnering attention from high-profile figures like Elon Musk and IShowSpeed.
The initiative also caught the eye of PETA, which criticized MrBeast in a series of social media posts.
PETA urges MrBeast to refrain from “exploiting” animals for 100 men vs Gorilla video
In response to his tweet about the trending topic, PETA expressed their discontent with his lighthearted remarks regarding filming a real-life contest.
“100 men vs. a gorilla? Perhaps consider 100 reasons to keep animals out of your content instead,” they criticized. “We love to engage in enjoyable activities—just leave animals out of it.”

When another user suggested that the proposed video might be enjoyable for the gorillas, PETA retorted: “Exploiting animals isn’t fun for them. Let’s provide them with the chance for true enjoyment: in their natural environments, where they belong.”

PETA further suggested that MrBeast pivot from the gorilla video idea toward assisting bulls in India.
“If you truly wish to demonstrate strength, MrBeast,” they proposed, “consider abandoning the gorilla fight and aid in retiring bulls that are forced to pull heavy loads of sugarcane in unbearable heat by substituting them with tractors.”
Interestingly, MrBeast has a reputation for engaging in charitable initiatives and has contributed significantly to various causes, such as planting 20 million trees, restoring sight to 1,000 individuals, and cleaning up millions of pounds of ocean debris.
As of now, Donaldson has not responded to PETA’s statements, but it is unlikely he was ever genuinely contemplating staging a battle involving human participants against a real gorilla—considering the profound legal and ethical implications.
It remains uncertain what form MrBeast’s gorilla-themed content will ultimately take, or whether PETA will continue its critique irrespective of the nature of the video he eventually produces.
Historically, PETA has frequently addressed trending subjects to advance its mission.
For example, during the peak of interest in the game Palworld, the organization accused it of endorsing animal cruelty and proposed a vegan guide for its players.
