Min Woo Lee Takes Charge at Houston Open

In a remarkable performance during the third round of the Texas Children’s Houston Open, Australia’s Min Woo Lee fired a seven-under-par 63 at Memorial Park. This impressive round catapulted him into the lead as he outperformed his peers on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy showcased resilience after nearly missing the cut, shooting a solid 65. This effort improved his standing considerably, and he now finds himself tied for 14th at nine-under as he heads into the final round.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who made headlines for tying the course record he previously set in 2021, had a mixed round that included two bogeys. Despite this, he remains competitive, currently tied for third alongside American Ryan Gerard and New Zealand golfer Ryan Fox.

Min Woo Lee has established a commanding four-stroke lead over Alejandro Tosti, who also posted an impressive 65 to reach a total of 13-under. Lee’s strong start was highlighted by three consecutive birdies, allowing him to widen the gap through the first 10 holes.

On the other hand, Scheffler had a clean slate through the opening rounds but faced challenges on Saturday, encountering bogeys at the fourth and 13th holes, which could have implications for his strategy going forward.

Davis Thompson made significant strides with a remarkable 64, bringing him to a total of 10-under. Canadian golfer Taylor Pendrith was also in contention but, after a round of 70, settled into a tie for 10th, also at 10-under.

The tournament faced some interruptions, with thunderstorms forcing several players to finish their second rounds on Saturday morning, adding an element of unpredictability to the competition.
