Japanese blog Macotakara recently released images of two dummy units for the iPhone SE 4, revealing that the smaller model closely resembles the design of the iPhone 14. This new iteration marks a significant shift as it will be the first in the SE series to incorporate an edge-to-edge display, Face ID capabilities, and a notch. It features a single rear camera, and instead of the Action Button found on newer models, it retains a smaller version of the mute switch present on the iPhone 14. Notably, the dimensions of the volume keys and the side button remain consistent with earlier designs.

In addition to the standard model, Macotakara showcased a larger variant, the iPhone SE 4 Plus. This version, which Apple has not previously offered, is expected to feature a display measuring 6.5 inches, compared to the 6.1 inches of the standard iPhone SE 4. Despite this revelation, there has been little information regarding the larger model, leading to speculation about whether Apple will indeed release both versions. According to reports, the company has yet to make a definitive decision on the SE 4 Plus.
The iPhone SE 4 is anticipated to sport a 6.1-inch OLED display, making it the first in the SE lineup to feature this technology. Under the hood, it will be powered by the A18 application processor, produced by TSMC using its advanced second-generation 3nm process technology. This is the same chip utilized in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. The rear camera is set to have a 48MP sensor, indicating a significant upgrade over its predecessor. Moreover, the SE 4 is expected to be the first iPhone model to utilize Apple’s proprietary 5G modem, marking a departure from the Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 modem used in the iPhone 14.

The anticipated launch of the iPhone SE 4 is slated for the first quarter of 2025. It is expected to include 8GB of RAM, aligning with Apple’s push towards artificial intelligence with its AI initiative, known as Apple Intelligence.
The previous iPhone SE 3 was introduced at a starting price of $429. However, due to its enhanced design, upgraded A18 processor, and increased RAM capacity, a price increase for the iPhone SE 4 seems likely. If Apple manages to keep the cost under $500, the new model has the potential to capture a strong segment of the market.
