Pirelli Introduces Colorful Podium Caps for 2025 Formula 1 Season

Pirelli has revealed its plan to offer vibrant special edition podium caps at 14 of the 24 Formula 1 races in the upcoming 2025 season. This marks a significant shift from the traditional black caps previously awarded to the top three finishers during post-race ceremonies.

Since becoming the exclusive tire supplier for F1 in 2011, Pirelli has consistently supplied black-branded caps as part of the celebratory podium routine. However, the company has stepped outside this convention on notable occasions. One such instance was at the inaugural United States Grand Prix in Austin in 2012, where the winners, including Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, and Fernando Alonso, were presented with branded cowboy hats.

In 2023, Pirelli made headlines when podium finishers Max Verstappen, Esteban Ocon, and Pierre Gasly donned yellow caps inspired by Brazil’s national colors and the iconic helmet of Ayrton Senna during the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

The latest designs have been crafted in collaboration with designer Denis Dekovi, debuting during the season opener in Melbourne. Each race will showcase unique colors that reflect the host nation’s culture and traditions.

The Australian Grand Prix’s top three drivers will receive caps in green and gold, while subsequent races in China and Japan will feature red and gold, along with blue and gold designs. “Dekovi pays homage to the traditions and cultural identity of the country hosting the grand prix through the use of color and materials,” a Pirelli statement explained.

With over three decades of experience in the sportswear industry, Dekovi aims to create headwear that symbolizes performance, precision, and prestige, aligning with Pirelli’s commitment to excellence on and off the track.

Fans eager to own a piece of this new collection can purchase their own versions of the caps, priced at £65 in the UK. This price point is significantly higher than that of headgear typically produced by individual teams or the Formula 1 organization.

Pirelli’s colorful evolution in podium caps signifies not only a break from tradition but also an innovative approach to celebrating the diverse cultures represented in Formula 1.
